Meet Caroline.

Caroline Boykin is a ceramicist and painter based in Raleigh, NC. Caroline grew up along the Alabama coast and received her MFA with a focus on ceramics from the University of Mississippi. After exploring clay florals while in school, she combined ceramics with canvas to create dynamic, 3D compositions. Playing with texture and light, these works exist in the tension between delicate and solid, alive and created.

Her work is anthropomorphic, but not precious. The form and color of florals feels entirely new - they are resilient and solid in a way living flowers will never be. Her pout series has become emblematic of her current work and is inspired by her daughter’s baby pout - pulling the viewer into family memories while exploring the ever dynamic female form.
